NIBA CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

๐Ÿ†Ardee Band make it 3 in a Row๐Ÿ†

 Ardee Concert Senior Band have won 1st prize in the Championship Section of the North of Ireland Band Association Championships of Ireland in Armagh today October 19th 2024.

This marks the Senior Bands 3rd 1st place win on the bounce. 

The Turner Trophy, an impressive piece of Silverware makes the trip back to Ardee this afternoon, making itself a cosy home in the Bandrooms of the Bohemian Centre. 

Our Intermettzo Ensemble made a fabulous win also today taking home 1st place in the Grade 3 Concert Section of the North of Ireland Band Championships in the Market place Theatre in Armagh this morning.

Well done to every member who played their hearts out and they all now look forward to the celebrations this evening as they gather to reel in a champions/ Winners Atmosphere ๐Ÿ†๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒŸ

Bake Sale for Youth Activities

Thanks to everyone who came and supported our bake sale last Friday night, October 4th in the Bohemian Centre. It was a great night and we raised over โ‚ฌ800 towards our youth activities for within our School of music.
 
Thanks to Caffreys home bakery,ardee for their spot prize for our raffle on the night also.
It was won by Senior band member Gerry Farrell and Presented by Olivia Doolan and Zoya Cody. ๐Ÿง๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ‘
 
 
Cultural night 2024
 
Ardee Intermettzo Ensemble are performing this afternoon, Friday Sept 20th in Ardee Library from 3.30pm to 4pm as part of Culture Night 2024

Enrolement Night

Ardee Concert Band are enrolling on this coming Friday night at 7pm sharp. The enrolement will take about 10 minutes and then the new members will have their first lesson on Recorder with Gerry Farrell until 7.40pm.

Scoil Mhuire Na Trรณcaire, Ardee New Garden

A fantastic evening at the opening of Scoil Mhuire Na Trรณcaire, Ardee new Garden. Our Intermettzo Ensemble had a wonderful time performing all children and their families with their conductor Mr James MacCafferty.

Irish Symphonic Wind Orchestra

Best of luck to the 4 members of Ardee Concert Band, Sarah, Aisling, Fiona and Aine who are playing with Irish Symphonic Wind Orchestra in this special concert on August 31st at Artane School of Music

The premier piece by Philip Sparke is in memory of players from ISWO who have died one of whom was Ardee Band member and ISWO member Vincent McArdle.

An Afternoon of Music in the Park ๐ŸŽถ
We had a wonderful afternoon in the park today, we were lucky enough to get 2 hours rain free and the sun even made an appearance too, until the last piece with 5 minutes to go โ˜”
We all had a ball and thanks to everyone who came and sat for either a few minutes or for the full recital it was lovely to play to you all

IYWE 2024
 
A memorable night of music is promised when over 70 of Irelandโ€™s finest young wind, brass, and percussion players take to the stage in Ardee this August Bank Holiday weekend, as part of this yearโ€™s Irish Youth Wind Ensemble summer tour.
 
We have 6 members of the Ardee Concert Band performing with the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble this year. Previous years they have performed in Limerick, Cork and Dublin. We are so lucky to have them with us this Friday in Ardee.
IYWE will perform a range of wind band classics spanning the decades, including Wagner’s ‘Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral’ and Bernstein’s ‘Symphonic Dances from West Side Story ‘.

Awards Night

๐Ÿ†Ardee Concert Band Annual Awards Night Tuesday 18th June 2024๐Ÿ†
 
A great turnout of parents and families were treated to some excellent performances at the Ardee Concert Band Annual Awards Night on Tuesday 18th June 2024.  This is an annual showcase  of all 50 members who are receiving tuition every week in the Ardee Concert Band School of Music.๐ŸŽท๐ŸŽบ
 
Master of Ceremonies, Peter McKeever, welcome all to this special night and the first group up were the Recorder Group conducted by Gerry Farrell who played two lovely pieces and were then presented with Certificates by band chairperson Deirdre McEneaney. 
 
Next up was the Junior Band conducted by Jayne Healy who played Star Wars and Another One Bites The Dust in their first public performance as a group. They also received Certificates from Deirdre.
Peter drew the audienceโ€™s attention to the progression that takes place every year where members who play in the recorder group this year, will be playing in the Junior Band next year and the Intermezzo Ensemble in the following year.
 
Last up were the award winning Intermezzo Ensemble who won 1st prize in Section 4 of the North Of Ireland Championships last October and who also won 1st prize in Section 4 of the Irish Association of Brass & Concert Bands Championships last April. In the absence of their excellent regular conductor, James MacCafferty, they were conducted by Kevin Reilly.
 
Certificates were then presented by Deirdre McEneaney to the members who sat the grade exams of the Royal Irish Academy of Music in May.
The night finished with refreshments being served to all who attended

Senior Band Fundraiser

This Year we ran a fundraiser to support our Senior Band, Tickets were โ‚ฌ10 each.

Congratulations to the winners of our Senior Band Development Raffle Draw which took place this evening at the break of our Weekly Sunday night Bingo in the Bohemian Centre at 8.30pm.
 
Thanks so much to each and every supporter who bought a ticket to support this raffle to support our Band.
 
We also send a massive thank you to Karen McCormack and Elizabeth Tallon for running the draw and a lot of hard work over the last 3 months, well done girls
 
 
Louth Agricultural show, June 9th 2024
 
We had a fab day in Bellurgan Park today for the Dundalk Show even it the rain did fall we didn’t let It dampen the musical atmosphere , we were playing under the tent which helped ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐ŸŽบ
 
Our Intermezzo Ensemble also performed today at the Dundalk Show , they had a wonderful gig and looking forward to next year already ๐ŸŽบ๐Ÿ˜โ˜‚๏ธ๐ŸŽท … Well done to their James and all involved

Artane 2024

What a fantastic day of music we had Last Saturday, May 18thโ€ฆ.
Our All – Ireland Champions met the band that have played at the most All – Irelands!
On Saturday Last our Intermezzo Ensemble travelled to Dublin to combine forces with the Artane Band for a day of joint rehearsals.
Many thanks to music maestros Ronan Oโ€™Reilly and James MacCafferty for organising the collaboration.
Maybe weโ€™ll get the chance to play together again when Louth meet Dublin in the All Ireland Final! ๐ŸŽบโšฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ†

Austin Nevin RIP

We are saddened to announce the passing of our Honorary President Mr Austin Nevin. Austin was also past chairperson of the band and was a loyal hard working member of the band during his time in at the helm.
We extend our sincere condolences to all the Nevin family at this time.

Saturday night at the Musicals
 
Tonight we performed for our Saturday night at the Musicals Concert, we also had the last few remaining Senior Band Development Raffle tickets on sale for โ‚ฌ10 each
 
Doors opened from 7pm, show started at 8pm , payment on the door โ‚ฌ10 admission, all children are to be accompanied by an adult.

We will once again perform a selection of classic and contemporary music in the Pagoda Marquee on the May Bank Holiday, Monday, May 6th. So why not make the most of the current good weather and come to the Oldbridge Estate to enjoy the uplifting brass band music in the beautiful surroundings of the Walled Garden.
Plenty of parking available and all free of charge. Performance from 2pm to 4pm. Bring along a blanket or folded chair to make yourself comfortable

Huge congratulations to George Doolan on winning 1st Prize in the under 16 section of the Navan Choral and Instrumental Festival today.
Also congratulations to Hollie Reilly in 2nd place and to Anna Callaghan and Tadhg Doolan who were Highly Commended

They have graduated the Junior Band and their Conductor Jayne with plenty of excitement for what’s to come in the IE ๐ŸŽถ

Last night Our Intermezzo Ensemble celebrated their recent Section 4 win from the @iab_cb National Band Championships in Athlone on Saturday last. A night well deserved for all the band and their Conductor James ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ†News just back From Athlone Our Amazing Intermezzo Ensemble came first in Section 4 and also won Best Brass, Best march and Best slow piece
We are so proud of every one of these members and their Conductor Mr James MacCafferty for his Amazing Talent
 
Our Senior band were awarded 2nd and also won best percussion and best brass sections
Well done to one and all and their Conductor Mr Ronan O’Reilly ๐ŸŽŠ
And our wonderful Fiona was awarded a lifetime achievement award from the Association of @iab_cb

Spring Valley Academy High School Band and Choir

An amazing night last night from all in Ardee Concert Band and Intermezzo Ensemble and to our Ohio Guests the Spring Valley Academy High School Band and Choir

Spring Valley have arrived in the Bohemian Centre in Ardee and are preparing for their joint concert with Ardee Concert Band which starts at 8pm tonight
Spring Valley Academy High School Band and Choir are from Dayton, Ohio, currently on an Irish Tour for 2024.

Church Gate collection

Thanks to all supporters of our Church Gate collection which took place this weekend 23rd and 4th March 2024 at all masses in Ardee Church.
We are so grateful for all the support we receive every year from the people of Ardee and surrounding areas.

What a great day dispite the Rain, the sun eventually came out. Always so proud to lead the Parade ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช in our home town of @ardeetown. Followed by the best pizza party of the year @apachepizzaardee supplying the goods ๐Ÿ•

St. Patrick’s Day

We are Currently rehearsing for our next public engagement, our largest of the year. 2024 will be no different as we once again march on with tradition and lead our Home Parade with pride.

Join us from 3pm as we march off the starting line of the Fairgreen right up through the town ending on William Street.

Our Bingo also continues On St Patricks Day, March 17th from 8pm in the Bohemian Centre.

International Women’s Day


we had a wonderful rehearsal on Tuesday last, March 5th to celebrate International Women’s Day with the very talented Emily Cox. Emily as past member of the band has flourished into a beautiful Lady with such a passion for music and in all that she does. 

After the rehearsal everyone enjoyed some tea and Cake; Who doesn’t like tea and cake? ๐Ÿ™‚ Kindly supplied by Lanney’s Supervalu Ardee.
